ENTRANCE REQUIREMENTS
Many of the programs offered by the Lowcountry Regional EMS Council
have specific prerequisites that must be met prior to admission
into the various programs. These entrance requirements, where
applicable, are listed under the course description for the program.
It is the policy of the Lowcountry Regional EMS Council to admit
qualified students without regard to race, creed, color, religion,
national origin, sex, age, physical or mental handicap, veteran
status, or marital status. Policies regarding the Americans with
Disabilities Act were developed by the South Carolina Department
of Health and Environmental Control, Division of EMS, which is
the regulatory authority for EMS training in South Carolina.
ATTENDANCE REQUIREMENTS
There are minimum attendance requirements for all programs offered
by the Lowcountry Regional EMS Council. Attendance of at least
90% of the didactic portion of most programs is required, although
attendance of 80% may be allowed, at the sole discretion of the
executive director, with acceptable documentation. Some programs
require 100% attendance. 100% attendance of all clinical experience
is required. Federal law requires additional specific attendance
policies regarding recipients of Veterans Administration Education
Benefits. These policies may be found here.
PROGRAM SCHEDULES
Programs offered by the Lowcountry Regional EMS Council are typically
planned within the July-June fiscal year training cycle. Some
programs, such as Paramedic Courses, are longer than the typical
training year. Most programs are offered on a "twenty-four/forty-eight,"
or every third day, schedule that matches the work schedules of
the majority of our students.

PAYMENT AND REFUND POLICY
It is the policy of the Lowcountry Regional EMS Council that payment
is due at the time of registration. In courses with limited enrollment,
payment is the only way to guarantee a seat in the class. Payment
must be in the form of cash, check, money order, VISA, MasterCard,
Discover, American Express or institutional purchase order. A
late registration fee (10% up to $50.00 unless otherwise indicated)
will be added to registrations submitted after the registration
deadline.
The Lowcountry Regional EMS Council reserves
the right to postpone or cancel any class if registration is insufficient.
If the Council due to insufficient enrollment cancels a program,
a full refund will be made, minus the cost of any books issued
but not returned.
Students who need to make payment arrangements
for payment of EMT-Intermediate or Paramedic tuition should contact
the office.
A full tuition refund will be granted if cancellation
is requested, in writing, fourteen (14) or more calendar days
before the course start date. Seventy-five percent (75%) of the
course tuition will be refunded if cancellation is received, in
writing, thirteen (13) or fewer calendar days before the course
start date unless registration can be transferred to a qualified
substitute. All cancellations must be made in writing. The student
will be responsible for the cost of any books not returned in
an unused condition. No refunds will be granted after the course
begins. No-shows and cancellations on the course start date are
responsible for the full tuition amount.
Federal law requires additional specific refund
policies regarding recipients of Veterans Administration Education
Benefits. These policies may be found here.
