American Heart Association Courses

ADVANCED CARDIAC LIFE SUPPORT (ACLS)
The two-day ACLS course is designed to review, organize, and prioritize the skills and didactic information needed to effectively manage a cardiac arrest, events that may lead to a cardiac arrest and events that follow a cardiac arrest utilizing the guidelines established by the American Heart Association. Utilizing case based lecture and group discussion, this course prepares the participant to effectively manage the first ten minutes of a cardiac arrest. Scenarios lead a single rescuer to a cardiac arrest victim that must be managed, initially alone and then with the assistance of other trained rescuers whom the initial rescuer must direct in the resuscitation effort. If appropriate, following defibrillation, the rescuer must manage other rhythms and manage the patient for several minutes in the immediate postresuscitation period.
